Military Order of the Purple Heart donates calling cards to 2-43 ADA Soldiers

Members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart donated calling cards to the Soldiers of 2nd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery, at the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade’s conference room March 29 for the Soldiers’ service to their country.
Former commander of the Depart-ment of Texas MOPH, retired Com-mand Sgt. Maj. DeLeon Weston, handed 300 calling cards to Maj. Curran Chidester, battalion executive officer. The cards were presented to help Soldiers keep in touch with their families.
Joining DeLeon for the presentation was retired Col. Gerald Carlson, a representative for the chapter here in El Paso. Carlson spoke to the command and presented a miniature Purple Heart to Maj. Matthew Dalton, the brigade’s operations officer-in-charge, for his service and sacrifice.

There are approximately 200 members in the El Paso chapter, with each member having earned at least one Purple Heart. The organization makes a record with its various community service projects, including donating time and resources to the Salvation Army, Opportunity for the Homeless, Rescue Mission for El Paso and sponsoring the Veterans Transition House.
The MOPH’s mission is to foster a community of goodwill and esprit de corps among combat wounded veterans, to promote patriotism and to provide services to veterans and their families.
