The Easter bunny was seen roaming around Bradley Park March 31.
The Easter Bunny made an early appearance to entertain the children during William Beaumont Army Medical Center’s 16th annual Easter egg hunt. The event is sponsored by the WBAMC family readiness group, with volunteer help from students of the WBAMC Licensed Practical Nurse Course.
The morning began with a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny. The children lined up to have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny while waiting for the Easter egg hunt to begin.
The fun continued with coloring book, bubble-blowing and face-painting stations manned by student volunteers, keeping the children entertained as they waited for the Easter egg hunt to begin.
Children patiently lined up behind yellow ribbons marking off age categories for the hunt. Finally, the ribbons were removed. A mad scramble began as the children worked to gather as many candy-filled plastic eggs their baskets could carry.
Master Sgt. Jose Colon attended the event with his family.
“It can be very difficult to balance a military career and family life,” he said. “When I told the family about this event, they were all on board.”
Jaela Colon, 5, and her brother Jelani, 7, challenged each other to collect the most eggs. Jelani proudly showed off a golden egg he had collected, which held a special significance for him.
“But it’s a secret,” he said.
After the hunt, the children enjoyed opening their eggs to discover the different candies they contained.

“This day went really well,” said Shelly Crowley, WBAMC FRG assistant. “It is a beautiful spring day, and everyone put in a lot of effort to make this day happen.”
