Staff Sgt. Mike C. Norris,
4th BCT, 1st AD Public Affairs:

Soldiers of the 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, “Regulars,” beat fellow brigade troopers from the 2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, “Sabers,” 16-13 in the Highlander Softball League championship here June 5.

Each of the six battalions of 4th Brigade Combat Team played five games during the regular softball league season, and the top two teams moved on to a single-elimination tournament.

The two teams with the best records during the regular season received a by-round during the tournament.

Sgt. 1st Class Timothy Willingham, the brigade intramural coordinator, said the teams in the league had a lot of team camaraderie and pride, and that they all seemed to have a lot of fun.

“It was a really good season,” he said.

The “Highlanders” will soon start their basketball league, which Willingham will also be coordinating. He said he is looking into setting up a golf tournament and possibly coordinating a flag football or volleyball league in the fall.
