DoMaD Public Affairs:
The 2207th Mobilization Support Battalion, a Reserve unit based in El Paso, joined the Directorate of Mobilization and Deployment June 1 to provide augmentation for a year.
The 2207th MSB is commanded by Lt. Col. Todd Kurtzhals, with Command Sgt. Maj. Steven Walker as the senior-enlisted adviser. The battalion’s base structure provides 16 personnel comprising a command section, principal staff directors and other key staff personnel. The unit will support DoMaD by performing government-in-nature and Title 10 U.S. Code functions of command and control.
“Our mission is to perform mobilization and demobilization missions at a power-projection platform,” said Walker. The unit’s primary purpose will be to provide augmentation to the DoMaD organization.
DoMaD provides unity of command and effort for all administrative and logistical support and movement requirements for all units and individuals supported by the Fort Bliss Joint Mobilization Station. DoMaD supports active component, National Guard and Reserve units, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, civilian and contract personnel scheduled to receive training in support of the DoD mission.
DoMaD coordinates all installation resources and agencies to support the Mobilization Reception Staging for Onward Integration. Additionally, DoMaD operates the Soldier Resilience and Readiness Center and all Departure/Arrival Airfield Control Group facility operations.
Last fiscal year, DoMaD processed more than 57,000 servicemembers for mobilization, demobilization and readiness. Over the years, DoMaD has modified and streamlined the mobilization process, a feat that took more than five years to reach. Even more, the DoMaD team still works every day to improve their process and procedures.
With mobilization and demobilization missions gearing up over the next several months, the battalion is a welcomed asset to DoMaD, providing additional cadre to sustain and improve the DoMaD mission.
