Outstanding Civilian Service Award Cynthia Ragusa receives prestigious award

The spouse of the outgoing command sergeant major of 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, received the Outstanding Civilian Service Award during a ceremony Friday morning on Highlander Field at East Fort Bliss.

Cynthia Ragusa, wife of Command Sgt. Maj. Isaac Ragusa, received the award for her service to 2nd Bn., 5th Brigade Combat Team; 4th Bn., 6th Inf. Regt. 4th BCT; and to Fort Bliss and El Paso. The Outstanding Civilian Service Award is the third highest award a civilian can receive from the Army.

During their time in El Paso, the Ragusas supported the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the El Paso Mission, the Women’s Shelter, Hondo Pass Christian Youth Center, Opportunity Shelter for the Homeless, and the Junior Enlisted Food Bank.

Cynthia was also awarded the Highlander Shield of Honor for her dedication to serving the “Highlander” Brigade and their families.

The couple will be moving soon to Fort Carson, Colo., for their next assignment.

“I’m only going to say one thing,” said Cynthia. “I will miss everyone and hope to see all of you again.”
