‘Bulldog’ Brigade returns with honor

Soldiers assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, have been arriving at Fort Bliss following their deployment to Wardak and Logar provinces in eastern Afghanistan helping the Afghan people.
Following their 10-month deployment where they served with the International Security Assistance Force assisting the people of Afghanistan, 3,109 Soldiers from 3rd BCT, 1st AD, have returned home with honor in the past three weeks.
The Soldiers are part of the “Bulldog” Brigade that deployed from Fort Bliss in September 2011. The Bulldog Soldiers conducted combat operations and partnered with, advised and mentored Afghan national army soldiers and Afghan police.
During the deployment, more than 230 Soldiers in 3rd BCT were wounded in action by enemy forces and earned the Purple Heart Medal. More than 35 Soldiers have earned awards for valor.
