WBAMC enjoys organization day

WBAMC Public Affairs:

At William Beaumont Army Medical Center, some staff wait all year for organization day.

“A hospital is a little different setting,” said Sgt. Kimberlee Ceballos, B Company, WBAMC, who helped coordinate the Aug. 17 event. “Hospital staff doesn’t get four days or holidays. We work 24 hours a day at the hospital. So to be outside in the fresh air is great because there’s not many windows in Beaumont.”

An annual tradition in the Army, the organization day gives units and commands a chance to unwind with some outdoor food and fun.

“We help provide the greatest health care in our nation to the greatest force in our nation,” said Brig. Gen. Dennis Doyle during the day’s events at Biggs Park.

And as Doyle went to exit the small announcement stage, the DJ cranked the sounds of the “Cupid Shuffle” – a song that moved the general to demonstrate his recollection of the song’s dance moves learned during the previous year’s organization day festivities.

“I look forward to organization day every year,” said Mark Bombach, a radiology technician at WBAMC who attended the event still clad in his green hospital scrubs. “This is a very good time for people to come together – civilian and military – to enjoy ourselves. We can’t forget about work every day. Work is important. Work is why we’re here. But this [organization day] is nice.”

The WBAMC O Day included a catered lunch, jump castles, a giant slide, water park, dunk booth, snow cones, sporting events and raffle prizes.
