After nearly a year and a half since their last field training exercise, C Company, 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, is deep in preparation for their first FTX since returning home from Iraq in December.

The company’s single training focus will be on basic doctrinal tasks, such as setting up and securing an assembly area.

“It’s been a long time since we set up a traditional assembly area and lived off our tanks,” said Sgt. 1st Class Rodel Barrameda.

Soldiers will also be expected to set up a traditional command post while training in the field.

“We have gotten used to living on [forward operation bases] instead of in the field, but it’s time to get back to the old ways,” said Staff Sgt. Justin Trivitt, as he conducted individual task training.

Over the course of the exercise, all Soldiers must display their proficiency throughout a multitude of individual tasks.

Upon their return from the field, “Comanche” Soldiers will conduct a 10-day recovery plan.
