MCGREGOR RANGE, N.M. – Soldiers of 47th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, conducting live-fire training with the Army M320 Grenade Launcher Module through clearing dust and smoke here Sept. 10.
The M320 grenade launcher, which has replaced the M203, has the same high-low propulsion system as the M203, weighs 3.3 pounds and has a barrel width of 350 millimeters.
The M320 can be used as a weapon attachment on the M16 or M4 carbine, or as an individual weapon system. It also has a laser range finder addition, making it more accurate at greater distances.

“This is my first time firing this weapon,” said Pfc. Patrick Morrison, an ammunition stock control specialist with A Company, 47th BSB. “The pistol grip on the M320 makes it more accurate than the M203.”
“This training is important,” said Morrison. “I’ve never shot this weapon before and for us to come to the range to get trained on it is very important.”
The ammunition used in the M320 is the same as that used in the M203; however, the side-loading breach allows for a wider variety of rounds, such as high impact.
“The M203 and M320 are the same; however, the M320 has a better sight system than the M203,” said Sgt. Jermaine Pugh, an ammunition specialist with A Co.
“With Network Integration Evaluation 13.1 drawing near, it is important that every Soldier qualifies with their assigned weapons so we can stay mission-ready at all times,” said Pugh.
The M320 is safer and more reliable due to its new features and, with better intelligence and technology, weapons such as the M320 Grenade Launcher Module will help units like the 47th BSB stay tactically and technically proficient on the modern battlefield.
