1st Lt. Joseph Spracklen,
11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade:

SOUTHWEST ASIA – Bravo Battery “Bulldawgs,” 5th Battalion, 52nd Air Missile Defense, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, welcomed Lt. Gen. David Goldfein, the commander of Combined Forces Air Component Command, to their Patriot Site Oct. 12.

Goldfein is responsible for developing contingency plans and conducting air operations in a 20-nation area of responsibility covering Central and Southwest Asia, making him a crucial member of the Bulldawgs deployed air defense mission.

Goldfein’s priority throughout his visit with the Bulldawgs was focused on spending time with Soldiers and recognizing outstanding performance. Goldfein spent a full hour entertaining questions and having lunch with Soldiers in the site dining facility.

Before departing, Goldfein also took time to acknowledge five “Bulldawg” Soldiers for their accomplishments while deployed. Spc. Steven Albright, generator mechanic, Spc. Jonathan Robbins, conventional mechanic, Spc. Audreann Sablan, launching station crewmember, Spc. Andra Watson, battery command post crew chief and Pfc. Shaylene Jones, launching station crewmember, were recognized and given a challenge coin from Goldfein.

“For someone with so much responsibility, it speaks volumes that he was willing to take time out of his schedule to just sit and talk with the Soldiers,” said 1st Lt. Brant Crandall, the fire control platoon leader. “You could tell it meant a lot to each and every Soldier on site.”

Goldfein concluded his visit with an informal dialogue with the Soldiers thanking them for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice throughout their deployment to Southwest Asia.
